Summit BodyWorks Temp-Coat Testing Results are Impressive

The Innovative Green Solutions (IGS) team has developed a key relationship with Summit Body Works, the leading after-market truck customization company located in Commerce City, CO. Both IGS and Summit believe that Temp-Coat® brand products are extremely well suited to all aspects of truck design. The IGS/Summit team is focused on providing Summit clients, such as Matco Tools Trucks and Snap-on Tools Trucks, with support from the start of evaluating their specific needs and requirements to the point well beyond the actual installation. The team has the depth of knowledge and key operational experience to meet your insulation needs. Temp-Coat® will provide you with the opportunity to build a more environmentally friendly product with greater thermal protection from the elements and between the compartments. Temp-Coat® products will meet and exceed all of your expectations.

The IGS/Summit team conducted testing on two identical Isuzu trucks at the Summit body works facility in Commerce City CO. All testing was done using 8 by 18 foot, aluminum box trucks.

The hot weather test compared the thermal properties of two identical trucks. Truck # 1, had a 40 mil application of Temp-Coat® on the exterior of the roof and Truck # 2 has stock aluminum roof. The results were a 30 to 40 degree reduction in the interior surface temperature of Truck #1, which provided a significant reduction in heat-load which reduced the amount of energy required to maintain a comfortable working environment inside the truck.

The cold weather test also compared the thermal properties of two identical trucks. Truck # 1 has a 40 mil application of Temp-Coat® applied to the interior of the box and Truck # 2 has the standard application of 2.5 inches of Owens Corning insulation. The results were that Truck #1 maintained a warmer temperature for a longer period of time than Truck #2. The heater in Truck #1 cycled less often than the heater in Truck #2, resulting in a better working environment, as well as a more energy-efficient vehicle.

The results of these tests prove the efficacy of Temp-Coat® as a thermal barrier when applied to a vehicle or trailer. The application of Temp-Coat® reduces the amount of time that the air conditioning and heating equipment will need to run, resulting in a more cost efficient vehicle. The addition of Temp-Coat® to Summit’s product line helps them meet their goal of providing their clients vehicles that will meet and exceed their needs.

Test Results

The objectives of these tests are to validate the efficacy of Temp-Coat as a thermal barrier, sound dampener and an anti-condensation coating when applied to a vehicle. One of Summit’s goals is to provide their clients, options that will meet and exceed all of their needs. The application of Temp-Coat will significantly delay the transfer of energy into and out of the vehicle, which in turn reduces the amount of time that the air conditioning and heating equipment will need to run. The application of Temp-Coat will help this equipment run more efficient and maintain a more comfortable working environment for the operator and their clients.
